Andrew, Age 22... "Something I have always wanted was a change. I have lived most of my life heavily obese. I ate anything I wanted, whenever I wanted. I felt guilty for what I have become. I weighed over 315 pounds. I fell out of shape and was terrified to run half a mile. Since my father passed away, I started to realize that I needed to change. I was apprehensive for the consequential health of my future. I wasn’t motivated at all. But with a little help of facing the fact from my friends and family, I was able to start my life changing experience.
Since the end of March this year, I tried to prove myself that I can do it. I was willing to shut up the voice in me that was saying I can’t. And I did it. Crossfit made me change. With the help of Crossfit, I have lost at least 65 pounds. I look forward to Crossfit everyday now. It is no longer a drag to go and workout and get tired and sore for days to come. I am now eager to go to Crossfit everyday and show myself that I CAN hang. Everyone at Crossfit is very motivating. I lost weight and regained my life. I increased my confidence. I have more endurance. I am more ambitious to achieve many more goals that are ahead of me. I can run a full five miles now without stopping. Crossfit will continue to help me for the better health of my future, and I encourage everyone to give it a try."

John, Age 49... Thanks to my son, I've been at CrossFit for 4 months now. My son asked me to "partner up" with him to give him support. I went primarily to provide moral support for him with a secondary interest in myself. Now, I am an AVID FAN of CrossFit on my own. As a businessman, the workouts fit conveniently with my schedule (3 times a week, but one can do more if they want to, as well as change out dates as needed.) Who would have actually thought that 3 workouts a week(approximately 20 minutes each) could make such a difference? Well, IT DOES, and I look forward to the workouts. In the past I have been hesitant to get involved in a "gym" environment or "exercise program" but what;s amazing is just after a few months I can actually FEEL and SEE the Difference! The workouts are short, intense and to the point. Working out on one's own may work for select people but I can confidently say that the Canyon CrossFit environment has definitely helped push me farther than I would have on my own (as well as having more fun doing it). Being one of the "older participants", initially there was some apprehension on my part about having to be around younger and stronger athletes but that concern was misplaced because the training groups are small, supportive, and with great comaraderie. It is a flexible workout environment where one can push themselves to new levels but at their own pace. Trainers Rick and Ray provide constant personal support and attention. Just a month ago I had my regular annual physical check up and was actually surprisedwhen my doctor asked me what I was doing differently because my blood work and EKG showed some dramatic positive changes. My doctor told me to thank my son and CrossFit! All I can say is "WOW!!" and THANK YOU! Dominic, Age 44... I have always been a "gym" rat all my life until about 4 years ago. I used to spend about 2 hours working out doing warmup, lifting weights, then finishing with Cardio training. I stopped going to the gym about 4 years ago and ballooned to a whopping 235lbs. Being only 5'6", I was considered "obese" by all health standards. While being at the heaviest weight of my life, I started to experience health issues...high blood pressure,back problems, knee pain,migrane headaches. I started to feel like my health was deteriorating. I decided to make a change since I wanted to see my children grow up. A friend's brother is a Police Officer for LAPD and told me I should try CrossFit Training. I started training at Canyon CrossFit shortly thereafter. Within 2 months of training I started to feel different. I did lose a little bit of weight but my clothes were loose and my body shape started changing. I started to feel stronger and had more energy to get me through the day. My migranes disappeared and my body aches and pains were gone. By the 6th month of CrossFit training my weight was down to 190 lbs and my high blood pressure was gone. I went from a size 37" waist size down to a 33". I owe my life to CrossFit training. What I like is the short, high intensity workouts. I am in and out of the facility in 1 hour. I also liked that I was able to scale the WOD - "Workout of the Day" to my current level of fitness. As I became more fit, I wasn't scaling as much. I now do the entire workout without any scaling at all. I did lose most of my weight when I got my nutrition under control with the ZONE principles. I recommend CrossFit Training and Nutrition to anyone who wants to make a positive change in there life. There are no long term financial commitments and the memberships are "month-to-month" so there is little risk. Give CrossFit a try, if it's not for you, you can always stop after a month.
